ATLANTA (March 27, 2017)—Georgia Southwestern State University (GSW) held its second "GSW Day at the Capitol" March 13 to meet with the local legislative delegation and spread the word to the Georgia General Assembly about the good work taking place in Southwest Georgia.

Approximately 30 GSW students, faculty and staff members attended the "Day," and many more were involved in the planning process. During the event, the the School of Business Administration and the Department of Psychology and Sociology highlighted their involvement with the University System of Georgia's eMajor initiative; the School of Nursing and GSW's Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregiving educated visitors regarding a proposed program in long-term care management; and the Admissions Office promoted all of the good things GSW has to offer. In a show of collaboration within the University System, GSW shared space in the South Wing of the Capitol Building with Valdosta State University.

Collaboratively, GSW and VSU hosted breakfast for legislators before standing for a group picture with Govenor Nathan Deal.

Georgia Southwestern Interim President Charles Patterson and GSW leadership were able to spend time with each member of the Sumter County delegation which includes, Rep. Bill McGowan, Sen. Greg Kirk, Rep. Ed Rynders and Sen. Freddie Powell Sims, along with many other members of the Georgia Legislature.
