School of Nursing presented flag for their support of deployed soldiers
At their full faculty meeting in August, the School of Nursing was presented a U.S. flag that had flown over the 933rd Forward Surgical Team location in Dahlki, Afghanistan. The flag was given in honor of the school's support for the soldiers deployed to theater. The folded flag was presented to Sandra Daniel, Ph.D., by Ramona Mulleins-Foreman, DNP, along with a certificate showing the dates flown and the appreciation from the soldiers.
Laughlin earns a second master’s degree
Mark Laughlin, associate professor of music, earned a master’s degree in Higher Education Administration from Georgia Southern University in May 2018. As a graduate student at Georgia Southern University, Mark was inducted into the Omicron Delta Kappa, Pi Lambda Theta, and Golden Key International Honor Societies. Laughlin receives ELF Grant for new music program
Mark Laughlin, associate professor of music, was the recipient an Education Leadership Fund (ELF) grant. This grant ($58,000) will be used to create a new academic program at GSW for Composing Music for Video Games. The funding will also provide support for video game summer camps, eSport Tournaments, and expenses for various gaming/education conferences to be hosted by GSW.
Laughlin receives award from USG eCampus
Leigh Laughlin, Lecturer in Criminal Justice and Sociology, is a recipient of the 2017-2018 University System of Georgia eCampus eHero Award for excellence in online teaching and student support. Laughlin is one of only 16 instructors from the USG to receive this award.
