Tickets on sale now for Kappa Delta’s 5K Color Run & Just Wingin’ It

GSW’s Kappa Delta chapter is busy planning their annual fall events. The 2nd Annual Just Wingin’ It event, to be held on November 3, will include live music from Fletch and Friends, cornhole, food and a wing-eating contest. Kids under 6 eat free. Tickets, pricing and more information are available on the Just Wingin’ It event page.

Kappa Delta’s 3rd Annual 5K Color Run will also be held this fall. Each ticket for the November 3 race includes a running number, a pair of sunglasses, a color powder packet, a bracelet, two temporary tattoos and a sticker. Events t-shirts will also be available. Tickets and more information are available on the 5K Color Run event page.

Proceeds from both events will go to Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) and Prevent Child Abuse America (PCAA).

GSW Community encouraged to attend RCI Summit events in October

The Rosalynn Carter Institute (RCI) will host its 31st Annual Caregiving Summit October 25 - 26, 2018. This year’s conference theme is “Empowering Caregiving for Stronger Communities.” The RCI hopes to empower caregivers who are caring for others with diverse, chronic illnesses and disability across the lifespan.

The Summit will kick off Thursday, October 25 with a screening of the film "The Weight of Honor" followed by a Q&A session with the film's director and executive producer Stephanie Howard. The film will be shown on campus in Jackson Hall at 4:30pm. ALL GSW faculty, staff and students are encouraged to attend this FREE event. Please register here if you plan to attend. Friday’s conference will begin with registration and breakfast at 8:00am in Carter I. Lunch will also be served, and events will wrap up at 3:45 that afternoon. During Friday’s conference, attendees will hear from experts on topics all caregivers can relate to, including You Don't Know What You Don't Know: Legal Planning for the Future; The "A" Team: Building Your Care Team; Mind, Body, and Spirit: Complete Self-Care; and Coming Out of the Shadows: Caregiver Panel. Any member of the GSW students, faculty or staff who are interested in attending Friday’s conference can do so for FREE. Please call the RCI at (229) 928-1234, if interested. You will receive a promo code to enter when purchasing your tickets.

After Friday's conference, The Gala Awards Banquet will be held in GSW’s faculty dining room from 6:00pm - 8:00pm that evening, where a formal dinner and awards ceremony will take place. The RCI will announce the Caregivers of the Year award winners, Mattie J.T. Stepanek Scholarship recipients and the winner of the Rosalynn Carter Leadership in Caregiving Award.
