Stephen Snyder named Special Assistant to the President

Stephen Snyder was recently named Special Assistant to the President, effective February 1, 2018. In this new position, Snyder oversees Alumni, Annual Giving and Government Relations. Snyder has worked 11 plus years at GSW and was previously the Director of University Relations.


Chelsea Collins named Director of Marketing and Communications 

Chelsea Collins was named Director of Marketing and Communications for GSW. In this new role, effective February 1, 2018, Collins serves as the university spokesperson and is responsible for external affairs, crisis communication, website and social media, print materials, and assisting with special events and fundraising efforts. Collins first joined GSW in 2015 as the Communications/Website Specialist for the Rosalynn Carter Institute, later earning the title Director of Communications.

Collins earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Speech Communication with an emphasis in Public Relations from Valdosta State University, and is a graduate of Advancing Sumter Leadership Institute and Leadership Lee.


Kim Comer transitions to Annual Giving Specialist

Kim Comer recently transitioned into the role of Annual Giving Specialist. Comer, who previously served as Assistant Director of Alumni Affairs, has been at GSW for 11 years.


Sydney Scott joins Office of University Relations

Sydney Scott joined the Office of University Relations in January 2018. As Public Relations Assistant, she assists with the daily operations of University Relations, including writing press releases, taking photos, designing print materials and managing social media content. Scott, a recent GSW graduate, earned her Bachelor in Dramatic Arts with an emphasis in Communication & Media Arts in May 2017. She has also written for, served two years as Director of GSW’s Hurricane Watch and worked on numerous local and student film productions.


Katherine Nance joins RCI as Training and Implementation Specialist

Katherine Nance is from Richmond Hill, Georgia but most recently lived in Statesboro while attending Georgia Southern University. At Georgia Southern, she earned her Bachelor's degree in Biology and Master's degree in Public Health, with a concentration in epidemiology. She began work at the Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregiving (RCI) on June 1 as a Training and Implementation Specialist, where she assists in implementation and development of Operation Family Caregiver.


Lezlie Poole joins RCI as Training and Implementation Specialist

Lezlie Poole is a life-long resident of Americus, Georgia and graduated from Fort Valley State University in 2016 with a B.A. in Psychology. She also received her Certified Peer Specialist and her Certified Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner certifications while developing and implementing two different programs at the Perry Wellness Center. On June 1, Lezlie accepted the position of Implementation and Training Specialist at the Rosalynn Carter Institute of Caregiving (RCI), where she hopes to continue in the on-going implementation of evidence-based programs to aid in supporting caregivers and their loved ones. Lezlie is married to Nigel Poole, and together they have two boys, Jasper (9) and Emory (7).


Mary-Margaret Fox named RCI’s Communication Coordinator

Mary-Margaret Fox is a recent graduate of Columbus State University. She began her new position as Communications Coordinator for the Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregiving (RCI) on June 1. She is an Americus native but has resided in Columbus, Georgia for the past 16 years. She is very much looking forward to moving back and enjoying small town life with her husband, Adam, their daughter, Piper (5) and cocker-poo, Sully.
