Dykes presents at nursing conference in Florida
Michelle Dykes, Ed.D., RN, associate professor in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, attended the American Nursing Informatics Association Conference on May 10-13 in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.
This year’s conference theme was “Where Caring and Technology Meet.” The conference offered a chance to enhance knowledge of current trends and best practices in informatics by examining the latest strategies and the management of data using technology in nursing and health care.
Dykes’ presentation was titled “Is Technological Competency Considered Caring?” Nursing is seen as a caring profession, with kindness and compassion as its some of its core values. In today's society, however, nursing educators are faced with teaching technology alongside nursing process and caring. How do educators emphasize competency in technology as being a vital part of the nursing curriculum? Her presentation discussed how technological competency is a vital form of caring in the nursing profession.
