Canes Spotlights Announced

Canes Spotlights highlight Georgia Southwestern students who hold leadership roles, are involved in extracurricular activities and excel academically on campus. The April Canes Spotlights were senior Management major Thiago Elias and senior History major Mary Katherine McGarr.

Canes Spotlights are nominated by GSW faculty and staff.

Vincent Norrman named PBC First Team All-Conference

Junior golfer Vincent Norrman (far right) has been named to the 2018-19 Peach Belt Men's Golf All-Conference Team, announced at the PBC banquet held at the World Golf Village in St. Augustine.

Throughout this season, Norrman picked up four PBC Player of the Week awards for a career total of five. He has four top-5 finishes this season, including a first place finish at the Hurricane Invitational, where he broke his own record, shooting a record low 13-under par.

Nicole MarchantNicole Marchant presents paper at Art history Forum

Nicole Marchant a BFA student in the Department of Visual Art presented her paper “The Mother Daughter Relationship in the Work of Louise Bourgeois as Examined through the Writings of Luce Irigaray” at the 8th Annual Georgia Undergraduate Art History Forum held at the University of West Georgia. Her paper was selected as one of 13 papers to be presented from Art History programs in the state of Georgia.

Tucker Smith & Shannon Gibson named Athletic Performers of the Month

Baseball pitcher Tucker Smith and softball pitcher Shannon Gibson have been named the GSW Department of Athletics top performers for the month of March.

GSW coaches nominate athletes and vote for the recipients of the award each month.

Sigma Theta Tau recognized for community collaboration

In March, GSW’s Mu Pi Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI) Honor Society of Nursing was was recognized for its work in fulfilling the International STTI Presidential Call-to-Action to Collaborate. This award was given for their collaborative work in the community with the Migrant Farm Worker Clinic, Harvest of Hope food drive, the American Heart Association CPR for babysitters course, and the GSW Undergraduate Research Symposium.

Jordan (JW) Walker receives MFA, Fellowship and Assistantship

Jordan (JW) Walker a BFA Graduate in Painting from the Department of Visual Art has received an MFA in Painting from Long Island University Post. Walker has also just been awarded an Art History Fellowship and Teaching Assistantship at Georgia State University where he will pursue a Masters degree in Art History in the Fall.
