Alumni Events

The Office of Alumni Affairs is dedicated to increasing alumni involvement and fellowship by offering a variety of affordable events throughout the state. Alumni and friends are encouraged to participate, make life-long connections, and remain involved with the Hurricane community. Events often include live sporting events, engaging over meals, and playing games that encourage friendly competition. Popular past events include the Annual GSW Night at the Hawks, Annual Night at the Braves, and various gatherings at local breweries and restaurants throughout the state.

Events are added online as they are scheduled. Many have limited registrations so we encourage you to sign up as soon as possible.

5:30 pm - 7:00 pm Wheatley Admin Room 127 Join GSW Alumni & Friends for a travel information session with Jack Brinson of Collette Travel. Learn about upcoming trips including New England, Italy, Croatia, and the Canadian Rockies, discover travel opportunities with GSW, and enjoy refreshments. Canes Brew Crew in Macon

5:30pm - 7:00pm Fall Line Brewing Company GSW alumni in the Macon and surrounding area are invited to come out to Fall Line Brewing Company on Plum Street in Macon, GA. If you are a Brew Crew member already, remember to bring your pint glass. Our new president Dr. Kerry Palmer is looking forward to meeting everyone. Refreshments and door prizes are in store! Canes Brew Crew HOCO Social

6:00pm - 7:30pm IceHouse Beer Garden GSW alumni are invited to join us on Friday night for a Homecoming Social featuring live music by Joey Recker and Patrick Cobb. Attendees should pre-register for the event and to qualify for Brew Crew pint glasses and perks (limited to the first 50 alumni to register). For more information, email alumni@gsw.edu.

Annual Canes Chili Cook-Off 2026

5:00pm Alumni Tent next to Soccer Field The GSW Alumni Association will sponsor its annual Canes Chili Cook-Off during the 2026 Homecoming festivities. Prizes awarded for Best Overall and People's Choice. To enter contest, click on graphic and follow the prompts. Entries must be a minimum of 1 gallon each and must be delivered warm/hot to the alumni tent at the soccer fields at 4:30 pm (30 minutes prior to judging). Please be sure to provide an ingredient list for food allergens.

Alumni Homecoming Tailgate

5:30pm Alumni Tent next to Soccer Field The GSW Alumni Association will host its annual tailgate tent until 8 pm. GSW alumni are invited to come by and visit, enjoy food, fellowship, and plan to register for a free gift and some great door prizes.

River Dragons Hockey vs the Blue Ridge Bobcats

6:00pm (Puck Drop 7:35pm) Mix Market on Broadway, Columbus, GA GSW Alumni are invited to join us in Columbus at 6 pm for fellowship, food and more at the Mix Market on Broadway, followed by River Dragons Hockey vs the Blue Ridge Bobcats with puck drop at 7:35 pm EST. Registration is $25 and includes pregame beverage & apps, admission to and prime seating at the hockey game, cap, and a puck to chuck on the ice for chance to win additional prize. Those attending pregame will also be entered into drawings for some GSW swag.
