The Big Event: Blitz Build 2024

April 1-20, 2024 Americus, Georgia Georgia Southwestern will host the inaugural "Big Event," a student-run service project serving the local community. This spring, we hope to bring Georgia Southwestern students together to say “Thank You” to the residents of Sumter County while also learning the impact of their service. For 2024, GSW will be partnering with the Fuller Center to host the Blitz Build to build a house in Plains, Georgia.

Beethoven 253rd Birthday Bash Concert: GSW Concert Choir and Southwest Civic Chorus

6:30 pm; Doors Open at 5:30 pm Albany Municipal Auditorium 2020 marked the 250th birthday of Ludwig van Beethoven. Join the orchestra and choruses from throughout southwest Georgia for a belated Beethoven Birthday season finale. Hear his Piano Concerto #4, the Choral Fantasy, and Coriolan Overture.

Hurricane Pitch Competition

5:30 pm - 7:30 pm MSC Private Dining Room The annual Hurricane Pitch offers entrepreneurial students the chance at winning $7,500 to start a business! Students are given guidance to take their unique small business ideas to the next level by creating a business plan and pitch to present to a panel of judges.

Hail Storm Annual Fundraiser

6:00 pm - 10:00 pm Wolf Creek Plantation Join Georgia Southwestern State University Athletics Department at its 5th Annual Hail Storm. Golf balls may be purchased in advance for $100 each. Closest to the target takes home the first prize of $25,000! Enjoy food from The Canterbury Kitchen, complimentary drinks and music performed by The Answer Band. The reception runs from 6-10 p.m. with the Hail Storm (ball drop) taking place around 7:20 p.m.

Kappa Sigma Golf Tournament

12:30 pm Griffin Bell Golf and Conference Center Join forces for a great day of golf and scholarship fundraising with this 3-man scramble with handicap scoring. Players will have the chance to win $1,000 while contributing to student scholarships at GSW. Contact Mark Blalock, mjblalock@gmail.com, for more information.

Little Canes Softball Camp (Ages 7-12)

9:00 am - 12:00 pm GSW Softball Complex Join the GSW softball team at the Lady Canes Field for three days of basic softball skills such as fielding, hitting, and throwing. Defensive skills will be taught. Participants must bring their own helmet, gloves, and cleats. Training will cost $175, and players will participate rain or shine.

Summer Softball Prospect Camp Grades (Grades 9-12 & Juco Players)

9:00 am - 3:00 pm GSW Softball Complex Join the GSW Softball coaches and participating players for player assessment of fundamental skills with pitching, catching, fielding, and hitting during morning session. College coaches and players from GSW will be there to assist all players throughout the camp.
