Digital Media Internship

The digital media internship will provide students with the opportunity to learn about and gain valuable experience with various digital media outlets, including but not limited to video, web content, social media, photography, and graphic design. Interns will report directly to the site supervisor and may be located on or off campus.

Potential Internship Responsibilities

With the growing need of digital content, this student internship may be offered on-campus or off campus at local businesses and organizations. Sample internship responsibilities may include:

  • Assist in managing and creating content for social media channels (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok, YouTube)
  • Drafting in web writing for blogs and website content
  • Video creation, including preparing scripts, filming video, post-production editing, and sharing on web outlets
  • Working with photo editing / publication applications
  • Assisting in daily office activities

Preferred Qualifications

Though each internship may be specific to the department or business working for, a variety of preferred qualifications may include:

  • Proficiency with social media
  • Creativity with graphics and brand messaging
  • Video content generation
  • Work effectively alone or in a team
  • Ability to meet deadlines and anticipate next steps or needs
  • Quick learner, ambitious, open-minded
  • Dependable and responsible for projects as assigned
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Additional Requirements

Students may be asked to provide a resume, work sample, or transcripts to be determined by the site supervisor and specific duties required. 

Learning Outcomes

Through this internship, students should develop a better understanding of content design, creation, marketing, search engine optimization, and/or website development. Students will demonstrate critical thinking characterized to solve problems and formulate efficient solutions while completing tasks at hand.

Interns should show an increase in effective team collaboration and leadership skills through taking initiative, communicating objectives, building agreements, and ability to motivate team members.
