Curriculum Overview

The music program stresses individual attention in presenting the discipline of music with small class sizes in an intimate setting. Students receive the personalized attention they deserve to continually improve their skillset.

Private instruction in brass, woodwinds, percussion, guitar, piano, and voice is available to all music students. There are several instrumental and vocal groups. All of these activities draw on the musical talents of music majors as well as the general college student. Georgia Southwestern State University students give frequent performances during the year. These range from musical theatre productions, madrigal dinners, cabaret, choirs, concert and jazz bands.

GSW Concert Choir and Concert Band

The GSW Concert Choir and Concert Band are both open to all students regardless of major with no auditions necessary. Students have the opportunity to join and earn course credits that fit into most curriculum.

The music faculty are particularly special to me, and each had their own role in contributing to my academic and musical growth. Their knowledge and skill are unmatched; their expertise is diverse. Moreover, their contacts are varied and opened doors for me to experiment, work, and grow as a musician and as an academic.
