Georgia Southwestern's Sports Journalism Certificate allows students a multifaceted approach to sports communication through the study of social media, public relations, interpersonal communication, and organizational communication. Students gain the skills necessary to strategize and optimize communication in the athletics context. Through various classes and internship opportunities, our students have the ability to network with professionals while gaining hands-on experience with a variety of technology in and outside of the classroom.
Our program combines content creation and academic student to ensure each student is exposed to the knowledge, technical skills, and abilities necessary to excel in the sports industry. Students can enhance their learnings with internships, which are readily available on campus during all sporting seasons and enhance knowledge learned from the classroom.
Courses available can be taken to earn credit towards the standalone certificate or for the Sports Journalism concentration for a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Emerging Media.
