Keaton Wynn

Keaton Wynn is a Professor of Art teaching both Art History and Ceramics at Georgia Southwestern State University and is currently serving as the Chair of the Department of Visual Art.  Wynn received a BFA in Ceramics at Missouri State University, an MFA in Ceramics from Kent State University, and an MA in Art History from Virginia Commonwealth University. Wynn works as a practicing artist and curator, exhibiting widely in regional, national, and international exhibitions. While teaching at GSW he has received the President's Award for Excellence in Service in 2010, the Faculty Excellence in Scholarship award in 2016, and the Faculty Excellence in Teaching Award in 2024.  In 2025 he was nominated for the USG’s Felton Jenkins Teaching Award.  In recent years he has directed and co-directed study abroad programs to China, Ghana, and Nepal. Wynn has given workshops and presentations nationally and internationally and has been a visiting scholar at the Xian Academy of Fine Art (XAFA), The Dunhuang School of Art, Northwest Normal University, and Shanghai Normal University.  He co-founded the Lanzhou Ceramic Residency at Lanzhou City University and there helped develop a ceramic studio and curriculum. During this time, he also completed a multi-year research project in Gansu province, testing the use of local materials for ceramic production. In 2017, he established the Center for Chinese Bie modern Studies at GSW in collaboration with the Institute of Aesthetics and Aesthetic Education at Shanghai Normal University, which encourages critical engagement of contemporary Chinese culture.  Wynn has presented at NCECA in Richmond 2024 and Detroit 2026. Keaton was featured in Southwest Georgia Living Magazine in an article titled "Hands of Clay".
