Canes Harvest is GSW's community food and essential items pantry, located on the 3rd floor of the Student Success Center. It is a resource available to faculty, staff, and students who are in need of essential items. We understand that sometimes, everyone could use a little extra help, and we're here to support you.

Our pantry stocks a variety of essential items year-round, including frozen foods, non-perishable food, and personal care products. Whether you're facing a temporary shortage or simply need a hand, Canes Harvest is here to ensure you have access to the items you need to get by. FAQ

What foods can I donate?

Any food that is "shelf-stable" or non perishable (it can be kept in the pantry and it won't go bad). Remember - only donate food that hasn't reached its "sell-by" date yet! Some examples include:

  • Mac N Cheese
  • Noodles
  • Canned Fruit and Vegetables
  • Frozen Foods (Pizza, Hot Pockets, Burritos, etc.)

What types of personal care items can I donate?

Just a few examples of some Canes necessities include, but are certainly not limited to:

  • Mouthwash
  • Lotions
  • Razors
  • Toothpaste
  • Body Wash
  • Toilet Paper

What shouldn't I donate?

Items needing refrigeration (this does not include frozen items), expired food, items without an expiration date, foods that may have been contaminated/damaged, and items that are open should not be donated to the pantry.

What if I am in need of an item that is not available from the pantry?

Certain items can be requested for the pantry, but the items must be a reasonable necessity. For item request contact Alejandro Espitia, alejandro.espitia@gsw.edu.
