Why did you choose to attend GSW?
While I’ve lived all over southwest Georgia, this area has always felt like home. When it came to it, home is what made me stay. GSW allowed me to get an excellent college education while I stayed at home to save some money.

Why did you choose your major, or what do you love about your major program at GSW?
While I came to GSW for journalism, my time at Andersonville made me realize I want to become a social media manager for a national park. The communication major allows me to access a multitude of different job opportunities. Even though my career path changed, I was able to keep my same classes and advisor.

What would people be surprised to know about you?
My favorite band is Paramore. I’ve been a huge fan for years and got to see Hayley Williams live at Bonnaroo in 2023.

What is your favorite memory or experience you’ve had at GSW?
Being editor-in-chief for the Sou’Wester has been the greatest time of my life. I love working with my team and delivering news to the students of GSW.

What is your plan after graduation?
I’d love to work across the country doing social media management for a national park. After that, I plan on getting my master's in secondary or post-secondary education, then teaching communication at a high school or college level.

What advice do you have for incoming students?
Take classes that you might be interested in but also get you out of your comfort zone. A friend dragged me into the glassblowing class, and it was one of the greatest things I’ve ever done.

What is your favorite class and why?
Popular Biology with Dr. Stephanie Harvey was my favorite class. I’ve always loved science but struggled with biology. Dr. Harvey not only made it easy, but she made it fun. I’d take the class again in a heartbeat.

What’s your go-to comfort food or favorite local meal in Americus?
Monroe’s Hot Dogs has been my favorite restaurant since I was young. Even when we didn’t live in the area, I always begged to go whenever we visited. I typically order two or three chili cheese dogs with a side of chili cheese fries.
