Why did you choose to attend GSW?
I’m from a super small town close to Americus, so I’ve always appreciated the feeling of a close-knit community. I knew I wanted to have a similar experience in college, and GSW always seemed like the right choice.

Why did you choose your major, or what do you love about your major program at GSW?
Initially, I chose accounting for stability. I eventually grew to love accounting and have not regretted that choice at all.
What makes GSW special?
My favorite thing about GSW is how much our professors and staff value student success. Our professors truly go above and beyond to make themselves accessible to students and provide so much guidance for students beyond the classroom. The accounting professors have played a huge role in helping me navigate my future opportunities. Their support has been invaluable to me.
What is a cause you’re passionate about?
The Methodist Home is a group home for children aged 13-18. My mom has been the director at the campus in Americus for about eight years, so I grew up there. Being around the girls at the Americus campus has not only helped me grow as a person, but it has also given me a sense of community that I value. Growing up, I always wished I had a sister, and now because of my experience there, I feel like I have so many sisters that I can’t count them.
Who is your favorite professor or staff member and why?
I met Phong Diep a little over two years ago, and he has become such a positive mentor for me since. Whether we’re fixing the digital signage or making videos, he can always find a reason to be happy and laugh.
What has been your greatest challenge?
Since I was young, I have struggled with intense anxiety. When I started college, I was worried about how I would manage in a new and more challenging environment. However, I have grown so much here and learned how to manage my anxiety in ways I never thought was possible. More importantly, I’ve learned to leave my comfort zone and embrace new experiences with confidence.
What is your favorite class and why?
My favorite class so far has been Taxation for Individuals. I enjoyed learning the rules involved in taxes and having the opportunity to learn by questioning. My favorite part of the class was the projects that Dr. Carol Bishop created for the class because they are a perfect balance between familiar and challenging.
What is your favorite album? Why?
My favorite album is Reputation by Taylor Swift. I loved it when it came out, but as I get older, I relate more to the emotions Taylor covers in the album and find her ability to put emotions and experiences into words magical.
