Hurricane Pitch

The second annual Hurricane Pitch will be held April 23, 2024 from 5:30-7:30pm in the MSC Private Dining Hall. This event will offer entrepreneurial students the chance at winning $7,500 to start a business!

Students are given guidance to take their unique small business ideas to the next level by creating a business plan and pitch to present to a panel of judges. These local business owners listen to each presentation and provide feedback after final voting. Winners take home a cash prize to assist in making their business dreams a reality!

  • $7,500 First Place Prize - Chosen by judges
  • $3,000 Second Place Prize - Chosen by audience (People's Choice)

In order to participate, you must meet the following qualifications:

  • Students may participate as an individual or as a team
  • The business plan must be written by the student(s) and ideas student-driven
  • Must be a fulltime, on-campus student at Georgia Southwestern.
  • Must be attending Fall 2023 courses and return for required meetings in Spring including the competition itself

Required Meetings

Students are required to attend meetings throughout the Fall and Spring to prepare their business plan and pitch. These meetings are typically every 3 weeks and flexible around schedules. Students chosen as finalists must also be available to attend pitch practices during the two weeks before the final competition.

The event is in support of Dr. Conner as part of her Pope Professorship to foster entrepreneurship in women and minorities.
