Initial coronavirus update

Georgia Southwestern is actively monitoring the COVID-19 outbreak, and campus leaders are following guidance from the University System of Georgia (USG), Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH), and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. To date, there have been no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Americus.

We recognize that this is a rapidly evolving situation and we will continue to keep our community informed. A coronavirus webpage has been set up on GSW’s website where we will post latest updates, useful links, and other resources. Announcements will also be made by email, social media, print information on campus, and in emergency situations, through Blackboard Connect, our emergency notification system.

Georgia Southwestern’s top priority is the health, safety and well-being of our students, faculty and staff. Our campus leadership team, in conjunction with GSW’s Health and Counseling Services, is working to educate the campus community on preventative measures and response planning. An information forum is planned for this afternoon Monday, March 9 at 4:00pm in Room 127 of Wheatley Administration.

For current COVID-19 information, we encourage all members of the GSW community to monitor the CDC website on the coronavirus disease.
