GSW to hold four in-person commencement ceremonies on December 12

Approximately 350 graduating Hurricanes will be recognized for their academic achievements throughout the day at the four smaller, socially-distanced ceremonies. Many Spring and Summer 2020 graduates who were recognized in GSW's first-ever virtual graduation ceremony in May will return to walk across the stage with Fall 2020 graduates.

The first ceremony of the day will begin at 10 a.m., recognizing graduates in the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Nursing and Health Sciences. The second ceremony will begin at 1 p.m., recognizing the College of Education’s Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, and the third ceremony will begin at 4 p.m., recognizing the College of Education’s Specialist degrees. The final ceremony, held at 7 p.m., will recognize the College of Business and Computing graduates.

Georgia Southwestern has taken many safety measures in order to hold in-person ceremonies. Graduates may bring up to four guests to their ceremony (who must be registered through Eventbrite). This is to ensure all graduates and their family and friends can safely social distance inside the Storm Dome. Face masks will also be required inside the building, as is current policy, and must be worn at all times.

Guests may begin arriving one hour prior to the ceremonies and should enter at the north entrance of the Storm Dome (facing the baseball field). Doors to the Convocation Hall will close five minutes before each ceremony so guests should plan accordingly for parking, scanning tickets, and finding seats.

Each ceremony will be live-streamed on GSW’s YouTube channel for those who are unable to attend in person. Family and friends can watch at www.youtube.com/GeorgiaSouthwestern.
