Nursing

Hometown: Morrow, Georgia

Major: Senior Nursing major

Graduating: May 2022

Why did you choose to attend GSW?
I chose GSW because as soon as I stepped on campus, I was welcomed like I already belonged here. I felt like it would be a great place to go because of all the possibilities of involvement that were introduced to me on Scholars' Day. I also heard that the nursing program was wonderful and one of the best in Georgia. I'm really enjoying it now that I am in it.

Please list your University highlights, achievements, leadership and awards.

  • Residential Leader (RL), (Fall 2019-present, 2 years)
  • Thunder Camp Student Director (2021)
  • Storm Spotter (2020-2021)
  • Thunder Camp Counselor (Summer 2020)
  • Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregiving Pope Fellow (Fall 2018-present, 3 years)

  • Member of GSW Association of Nursing Students (Fall 2018-present)
  • Recipient of GSW Wheatley & Wheatley Leadership Scholarship (Fall 2018-present)

Why did you choose your major?
I chose nursing because I’ve always had a love for science and physiology, as well as helping and caring for all kinds of people. My family really helped me realize that nursing is a great combination of these two passions I have. I also take joy in knowing that I can help someone feel better both emotionally and physically, even in the slightest way.

What makes GSW special?
GSW is extremely special and unique because it provides an atmosphere where students are able to build intimate connections with many people on campus as well as have plenty of opportunities for growth. Being a part of a tight-knit community really makes me comfortable calling GSW my home away from home. Also, being surrounded by faulty members dedicated to my growth has really brought me out of my shell compared to how I was my freshman year.

What’s your favorite spot on campus and why?
I really love going to Café Campesino and getting an iced latté! They’re really a pick-me-up during the day, especially between my classes. My go-to has always been a caramel latté but I’ve really been enjoying the mochas lately.

What is your favorite memory or experience you’ve had at GSW?
Some of my favorite memories have definitely been with the friends I made my freshmen year and my Residential Leader (RL) staff. I love going to events on campus with them like Blue & Gold Week and Homecoming. Some of the best times have been just staying up late with my best friend laughing and studying for all the exams we have in nursing school.

What advice do you have for incoming students?
One thing I advise for all incoming students is to not be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and try something new on campus! Although I was hesitant at first, by stepping out of my comfort zone freshman year, I went to many things such as the RL programs, campus-wide events, and tutoring services where I met many of the friends I have today. Take a leap of faith because it will truly be beneficial in the long run!

What are your most-used emojis? Why do you think so?
My most used emoji is definitely 🥰 (smiley face with the hearts)! I love using it because that’s how I feel most of the time because I love love. Anyone who knows me knows that I like speaking love over myself and others.
