Why did you choose to attend GSW?
There are two primary reasons I chose to attend GSW. First, I was drawn to the strong sense of community. During my initial campus tour, the guide emphasized how welcoming and friendly everyone is, and she shared how she formed lifelong friendships during her time here. That sense of connection was something I truly wanted—to build meaningful relationships that would extend well beyond college—and I am grateful to have found that here. Second, I chose GSW because of its close proximity to my family, which was an important factor in my decision.
Please list your University highlights, achievements, leadership and awards.
Are you currently receiving any GSW scholarships? If so, which one(s)?
Yes, I'm currently receiving the Southwestern Promise Scholarship.
Why did you choose your major, or what do you love about your major program at GSW?
I chose Business Management because growing up, I saw how hardworking my parents were in the leadership roles they held at their jobs. Watching them lead, problem-solve, and support others inspired me and shaped how I see responsibility and teamwork. Because of them, leadership has always felt natural to me, and Business Management allows me to turn that passion into real skills I can use to lead, grow organizations, and make a meaningful impact.
What would people be surprised to know about you?
People are often surprised to learn that I’m naturally introverted at first, but it speaks for itself that once I find my voice and feel comfortable, I step into any leadership role with confidence and become highly involved.
What is a cause you’re passionate about?
I’m passionate about supporting first-generation students and showing them that not coming from money does not limit their ability to succeed. With hard work and determination, they can achieve their goals and create better opportunities for their future. Going to college can be life-changing and a powerful way to make their families proud.
What is your favorite memory or experience you’ve had at GSW?
My favorite experience at GSW has been helping bring Alpha Psi Lambda to campus. I wanted to be part of a Greek organization where I felt welcomed no matter what, without having to fit into a certain category or stereotype. I was looking for a familia, and that’s exactly what I found.
What has been your greatest challenge?
My greatest challenge was being in a severe car accident on October 9, 2020. It was an extremely difficult time for me mentally and emotionally, and it was just as hard on my parents as they watched me recover and relearn how to walk. Without the constant support and love of my family, I truly don’t know how I would have gotten through it.
What advice do you have for incoming students?
Don’t be afraid to get out there. When I first arrived at GSW, I planned to keep to myself, but becoming a Residential Leader pushed me to grow my confidence and get involved on campus. I don’t regret it at all, and I would do it all over again.
What’s something on your bucket list?
Something on my bucket list is to travel to every state and country in the world. I love the idea of experiencing different cultures, foods, and ways of life firsthand, and seeing the beauty and diversity our world has to offer. I want to collect stories, memories, and adventures from every corner of the globe.
