Why did you choose to attend GSW?
My parents and much of my family have attended GSW at some point in their lives, and when we toured the campus, I was drawn in by the sense of home and community that transpired here.

Please list your University highlights, achievements, leadership and awards.

Tell us more about something you’re involved with on campus.
The Sou’Wester has been through many changes in the past couple of years, but the “voice of GSW” is still going strong. In my time with the paper, we have shifted to a more student-centered newspaper that is available through an online medium. With this platform, we have been able to utilize different multimedia options like links and videos with the help of the incredible University Relations staff. We are very fortunate and proud to facilitate the voices of students through articles and the “Ask the Canes” student opinion column, and I know that the amazing newspaper staff will continue to do wonderful work with this 88-year tradition.

What is your favorite memory or experience you’ve had at GSW?
My favorite memories at GSW will always be going to games with friends. The arenas are very close to the residence halls, and I loved spending time with my friends and cheering on the Hurricanes. I especially like the Under the Lights soccer game where the entire community comes out to play games, eat food, and watch fireworks.

Who is your favorite professor or staff member?
A professor that has made the most impact on my time here at GSW, has been Dr. Michael Moir. As my advisor for English, Dr. Moir has always been on my side. He has helped me register for every semester; answering my copious amounts of questions and helping me choose the best classes. He also suggested that I take a marketing minor, sent me publishing institute applications, and sent many recommendation letters for me. Dr. Moir helped me work on my senior capstone project and submit it to an academic journal, gave me books and research materials for many projects, and has all around given great advice to me over the past couple of years. I would not be where I am today without him and I am so lucky to have worked with and learned from him over these past three years.

What is your plan after graduation?
After graduation, I will take a breath for a month and then I’m off to New York. I was recently accepted into NYU’s summer publishing institute and chosen as the recipient of the Hearst Endowment for Magazine Media scholarship. Afterwards, I will be networking within that space and job searching within the publishing industry.

Why did you choose your major?
English is such a great and versatile major. You can be a lawyer or a journalist, work in business or communication, and even find opportunities in medical fields. I have also always loved reading and writing, which is the foundation of every skill set and profession, and an English degree from Georgia Southwestern molds you into a well-rounded individual.

What is your favorite vacation spot or memorable trip you’ve taken? Why?
In high school, I was the band captain of the marching band, and we went to New Orleans to march in the 2019 Sugar Bowl. We got to march through the French Quarter and see the beautiful historic area, and it is something I will always remember.
