Zephyr Recruitment Team: Building Tomorrow's Leaders

The Georgia Southwestern State University Zephyr Recruitment Team, affectionately known as the Zephyrs, is a dynamic student organization that plays a pivotal role in shaping the university's future. Named after the gentle west wind, Zephyrs are dedicated to supporting the Office of Recruitment and Admissions in their mission to attract prospective students to our vibrant campus community.

Our Mission: Shaping the Future

The Zephyr Recruitment Team comprises passionate student volunteers who actively contribute to the university's growth by engaging in a range of recruitment activities. These include conducting insightful campus tours, visiting high schools, and participating in both on-campus and off-campus events. Our collective mission is to boost the university's enrollment by providing prospective students and families with an authentic glimpse into life at Georgia Southwestern.

  • Key Responsibilities: Guiding, Inspiring, Leading

Each Zephyr commits to giving a minimum of two campus tours per semester at the Admissions Office. To ensure a seamless experience, Zephyrs collaborate with the Tour Captain to organize tour schedules. During tours, maintaining a professional appearance and behavior is paramount, reflecting the high standards of our organization.

  • Guidelines for Success: Professionalism and Commitment

A Zephyr embodies professionalism, with each tour conducted in a respectful and accurate manner. Dressing appropriately and wearing the Zephyr nametag ensures a polished presentation. While wearing Zephyr shirts isn't mandatory for each tour, the nametag is a must. Dispensing truthful and positive information during tours upholds the integrity of our university.

  • Charting the Course: Attendance and Engagement

Attendance at all Zephyr functions is mandatory, except for valid excuses such as illness, class commitments, and work-related responsibilities. A proactive approach to communication is essential for excused absences. Failure to attend Preview Day results in expulsion, although an appeal process is available. A review board, consisting of the Advisor, the Executive Council, and a non-officer Zephyr, evaluates appeals.

Join the Zephyr Recruitment Team, and be part of an influential force that drives Georgia Southwestern's growth. As a Zephyr, you'll guide the path for future students, contribute to a dynamic campus, and cultivate leadership skills that will serve you well beyond graduation.

Becoming a Zephyr: The Path Forward

Prospective Zephyrs are selected through an application process, including a personal statement and an interview with a panel designated by the Zephyr Advisor. The responsibility of being a Zephyr extends to annual meetings with the Advisor(s) to discuss performance, grades, and the overall team dynamics. This collaborative effort ensures that Zephyrs are supported in every aspect of their role.
